Desirable Friction

This is a typographic exploration of how the system controls and manipulates our view by remixing traffic signals, a system that controls going and stopping cars and pedestrians, and texts. Using friction as a visual generative tool, I explored the idea of how sight affects our perception. If an unusual but interesting way of visual expression can afford a moment of friction, that would be a new way of interacting with the interface. Finding the right amount of friction was also the core of the project. Depending on the amount of friction, the legibility changes. With too little friction, the text slips but too much friction distorts legibility as well.
